"Hi, my name is Kevin. I grew up in rural Ohio where I currently reside. I've taught physics at college prep schools in Virginia and Pennsylvania for 9 years. "Hi, my name is Kevin. I grew up in rural Ohio where I currently reside. I've taught physics at college prep schools in Virginia and Pennsylvania for 9 years. I've tutored physics online for 3 years (elsewhere). My BS and MS are both in physics. I can teach just about anyone physics, but I especially enjoy working with middle school, high school, and college students.
In the classroom, I've taught 9th grade physics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics C: Mechanics, Honors Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, Robotics, 8th Grade Earth Science, and Quantum Mechanics. Additionally, online, I have tutored AP Physics 2, AP Physics C: E&M, IB Physics, intro calculus, MCAT physics prep, and many intro/general university physics courses (mostly at the 200 level). I take a concepts-first approach in my tutoring, because if you don't understand the underlying concepts, the equations will not make sense. I'm a big fan of the Socratic method, and I am constantly asking my students leading questions to help them progress through a problem. I am an expert in identifying and correcting misconceptions.
I make my students work hard and learn by doing. If you want a tutor who solves all your homework problems for you (so you retain nothing and then fail the test), I'm not your guy. If you want a tutor who coaches you step-by-step to mastery, choose me. I'm very patient. I get invested in my students. I have tutored valedictorians taking advanced classes as well as students with severe learning differences or knowledge gap deficiencies struggling with basic algebra. I can meet you where you are, and I will do my best to set you up for success. Expect to work hard, but we'll laugh and have fun, too. I am a seasoned professional with over 2000 hours of online physics tutoring—just not on Wyzant. Here, I am new—but I promise that I'm good—so book with confidence. I look forward to our first session!" less...
