"I graduated veterinary school in 2004 and was a practicing veterinarian for 15 years. My experience is diverse, having worked in hospitals, animal shelters and emergency medicine and I have a passion, above all, for client education. I loved helping people learn so they could take better preventative care of their pets and manage complex disease syndromes in a very informed way.
My interest in the sciences started very young, when I would try to befriend ducks and other wildlife so I could sit and observe them. In college, I took as many anatomy, physiology, and animal science classes as I could, graduating with a BS in Zoology in 1999 (with a Geography minor for fun). During veterinary school, my thirst for knowledge continued and took me to Thailand to learn elephant medicine and Florida to study manatee epidemiology.
More recently, I began a new career adventure in consulting, where my main focus has been client education, and discovered this was an area I especially thrived in. I have also been involved in patient community outreach and education for some human chronic diseases that have complex biological explanations.
Having worked with a diversified public for decades, my teaching style is tailored for the needs of each individual. Learning should be what's best for each and every person. I excel most in anatomy, physiology, biology and other life sciences but geography and creative writing are also things I have an interest and background in and I have even recently finished my first novel.
