"I am a vocalist, musician, songwriter and performer with a passion for teaching others what I have learned in my career thus far. I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music, where I double majored in Vocal Performance and Music Business. I was 1 of 25 Presidential Scholarship nominees, which earned me a full tuition scholarship. Being a student at Berklee allowed me to further my knowledge in music theory and ear training, as well as learn valuable skills for performance. In high school, I entered and competed in numerous festivals, making the Florida All-State Reading Choir three years in a row and working under the direction of notable clinicians such as André Thomas and Jeffrey Benson.
I found my love for teaching music when I was a freshman in high school. I volunteered at my former middle school, and taught voice, music theory, and ear training to the students. I continued to teach at that school until I graduated from high school. I prepared the students for solo performances, choir performances, and competitions such as All-State. I felt so much excitement getting to watch the students improve and become more well-rounded and confident musicians. Throughout college, I taught private voice lessons to high school students. We honed in on vocal technique, focusing on training the voice to produce a better quality sound in a healthy way. During my senior year of college, I completed the Vocal Pedagogy class at Berklee. This class focused on all areas of teaching voice. I learned more about best practices that would lead to student success, as well as vocal anatomy. As part of the curriculum, I was also assigned a student, allowing me to practice what I was learning and receive feedback from my professor. During my time at Berklee, I also tutored my peers in music theory and ear training. It has made me so happy to see progression while working with these students and I am looking forward to continuing to do this." less...
