"Educational Background & Credentials
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from Hunter College. While at NYU, I received a liberal arts education focused on Theater, Drama, and Literature, and also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London. I later taught playwriting at NYU/Tisch’s Playwrights Horizons Theater School for six years, and I now work professionally as a playwright and television writer.
In high school, I was salutatorian, graduating with a 3.98 GPA and a 35 on my ACT. I earned the Coca-Cola Scholarship (awarded to only 150 students nationwide), the Prudential Spirit of Community Award (one of two recipients per state plus DC), and the Nebraska Young Artist Award.
Teaching & Tutoring Experience
I have over ten years of teaching and tutoring experience with students ranging from elementary school through college. I have previously tutored elementary-aged children in math and reading, and have also taught playwriting and drama at the high school and college levels. My experience spans classrooms, one-on-one settings, and online instruction.
Subjects I Teach
Math: Elementary through basic algebra
Reading: Elementary through high school
Spelling & Handwriting: Elementary
Creative Writing & Playwriting: Elementary through post-grad
Essay Writing: Up to high school level
Tutoring Approach & Philosophy
I’m a patient and encouraging tutor who adapts my teaching style to each student’s needs. I focus not only on helping students master the material but also on building their confidence as learners- and as citizens of the world. Using humor, storytelling, and a positive attitude, I create a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, learning from them, and trying again.
Some of my former student playwrights have gone on to study at Juilliard, Yale, NYU, and Northwestern, and continue to share their accomplishments as they grow in the professional world." less...
