"I support writers at the college and professional levels. I have a PhD in ethnomusicology and was an instructor and teaching assistant of sociology, interdisciplinary humanities, and Arabic language for ten years at the University of California, Berkeley and Santa Barbara; Dominican University of California; and San Francisco State University. I have helped students improve their writing through providing one-on-one support and through providing feedback on over 500 student papers. In addition to supporting academic writing, I have spent the last ten years working at a consulting firm where I help professionals improve their business writing.

What I most enjoy about teaching is helping students reach their goals, such as improving a grade on the next assignment or developing writing skills over time. I customize my approach to tutoring, listening closely to and observing what each person needs and wants. Working through writer's block, determining content and outlining, tightening logic, and improving grammar and syntax are common topics of focus in my work with students. I know each person is on their own unique learning journey, and I meet each person where they are. I am a patient and thoughtful tutor.
