"For as long as I can remember, I have always been the 'go to' person in my family, and among my friends, for any writing help. This includes editing academic or application essays, letters, articles, stories, resumes, pitches etc. About 2 years ago, after successfully helping my cousin and two of her friends prepare for and pass the SAT Reading and Writing Test, I started to receive a steady stream of requests and thereafter referrals. This is when my love for tutoring solidified and I decided to become a certified tutor!

I love tutoring because I enjoy watching students realize 'they had it in them this whole time!' by helping them nurture their confidence in the subject area they are struggling with. My objective is to show students that with the right kind of learning style, approach and encouragement, they can improve immensely.

Instead of a standard lesson plan for all students, I cater each tutoring session based on a student's profile. I prepare a really short multiple-choice questionnaire to identify a student's strengths and weaknesses in the particular subject area such as grammar, writing, reading and/or test prep. This helps me assess a student's learning style and level of confidence in the subject so that I can develop a unique lesson plan just for them!
