"Ciao! I’m Laura, a native Italian from Castelfranco Veneto, a small town near Venice, now living in the U.S. I have a Master’s degree in Modern Languages and earned my First Certificate in England back in 1991.

I’ve spent most of my career teaching: over 18 years of English in Italy and 5 years as a substitute teacher in America. In Italy, I taught English in elementary school from 1st to 5th grade for 13 years. After moving to the States, I became a certified substitute teacher from pre-K to 8th grade, helping students in all subjects.

I soon realized I could offer more to my American students: the possibility of learning Italian. My lessons combine authentic conversation with clear explanations, because I understand the challenges of learning a new language. I always do my best to make lessons fun and engaging. I am patient, I speak clearly, and I love sharing my country’s language and culture.

My students can be 6 or 90 years old! While I have taught mostly in classrooms, I truly enjoy working with small groups or one-on-one. I can help with Italian homework, exam preparation, or teach the basics to anyone interested in traveling to Italy. My lessons cover fundamental topics such as greetings, numbers, food, time, weather, directions, etc. I also give simple homework when needed to help students keep improving on their own.
