"My life's work has been devoted to teaching and education. I am currently a higher education professional at Rutgers University where I earned my PhD in 2016. I have taught Spanish language, literature and expository writing classes at Rutgers. For five years, I served as a grants and fellowships adviser in the graduate school office where I did 1-1 tutoring for graduate students applying to external funding. I really loved helping graduate students in this capacity and it has instilled in me an interest to continue tutoring outside of the research setting.

Before I pursued my PhD, I also had two years teaching in the Massachusetts public school system (2002-04) where I was a certified teacher (initial certification) in Boston and a suburb of Boston. I taught Spanish to grades 6-10, and learned communicative approaches to teaching. In 2005 I decided to pursue a Master's degree at the NYU in Spain program. I lived in Spain for the year and built on the fluency I had gained in my final semester at Oberlin when I studied abroad.

At Rutgers, I have taught a wide range of langauage literature and writing courses and have learned a broad range of pedagoical approaches to teaching wrintg in a classroom and indvidual setting.
