elementary math competition in Newton, MA
We are looking for a math tutor for our two children. Rya is a rising 5th grader and Bryce is a rising 2nd grader. They both go to Star Academy, a private school that has an advanced math curriculum. So, Rya has already started 6th grade math (Mammoth Math text book) towards the end of her 4th grade year and Bryce will be starting 3rd grade math (Mammoth Math text book) when 2nd grade starts in September. They’ve also been doing RSM.
Both have been doing well in math. Bryce is especially gifted in math and enjoys it. As one example, RSM has placed him in their highest level class for 3rd graders in the fall as a 2nd grader. Math doesn’t come as easily to Rya, but through her perseverance, she manages to do well in the top math track at school. We’d like to hire a tutor starting in the fall instead of re-enrolling in RSM.
We’re thinking the tutor could work on competition math with them each individually. Rya has done Math Kangaroo, MOEMS, and Noetic. Bryce has done Math Kangaroo and Noetic. The tutor would come to our house in Newton for 1.5 hours each week and spend 45 minutes with each kid. We’d probably be looking for a time like 4:30p-6p on Mondays. We are seeking a math tutor for our two children, Rya and Bryce. Rya is a rising 5th grader, and Bryce is a rising 2nd grader. Both attend Star Academy, a private school with an advanced math curriculum. Rya began 6th-grade math (Mammoth Math textbook) in late 4th grade, and Bryce will start 3rd-grade math (Mammoth Math textbook) in September. They have also participated in RSM.
Both children perform well in math. Bryce is particularly gifted and enjoys the subject; for example, RSM has placed him in their highest-level class for 3rd graders this fall, despite him being a 2nd grader. Math doesn't come as easily to Rya, but her perseverance ensures she excels in the top math track at school. We aim to hire a tutor starting in the fall instead of re-enrolling in RSM.
We envision the tutor working with each child individually on competition math. Rya has experience with Math Kangaroo, MOEMS, and Noetic, while Bryce has participated in Math Kangaroo and Noetic. The tutor would come to our home in Newton for 1.5 hours weekly, dedicating 45 minutes to each child. A preferred time would be Mondays from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. We would love to discuss if this sounds like something that could work for you.
