ADHD in Chester Springs, PA

Hello, I have a son with ADHD entering sixth grade at Lionville Elementary next year. He is particularly lacking in his "executive functions" (study skills, time management, organization, etc.). Additionally he lacks motivation to put the time in to doing his best work and needs to learn how to become an advocate for himself rather than a passive participant in his education. I realize that the middle school has programs to teach these things, but I am not confident that, even with an IEP, he will get the amount and type of instruction needed to really learn and use these skills effectively. The earlier he develops this, the easier his transition through middle school and beyond into high school and college will be. You may think I am beginning too early, but I have learned from experience with an older son who is struggling in college that waiting for the school to teach these skills may not be the best approach for my children. I am not looking for my child to achieve a certain GPA, just that he has the tools and desire to reach his potential. I am looking for a tutor who can serve as a coach in an on-going relationship to accomplish these goals and help tutor in subject specific material as necessary. Your personal statement seems to match my needs. Do you work with kids this age?
