Final Cut Pro in San Francisco, CA

Hi David: I'm a Bay Area writer and producer, quite a bit of experience, but I'm being asked to edit and shoot my own stuff now. Would like to learn Final Cut, but a bit of a technophobe. I can see what I want in my head and transfer it to a script, but get overwhelmed by the technology. Is it crazy for me to try to learn final cut, and is that something you can teach? Thanks, C.
