Material Engineering in Boston, MA
Hello Andrew,
I hope everything is going well. I'm taking my Master's degree at Northeastern University in Mechanical Engineering (material science program) and I have a final for my "kinetics of phase transformations" class is in 4 days. I was wondering if you know any of the following topics to help me with:
1)dislocations in crystals (edge and screw) in terms of plane rotation
2) Low angle boundaries/high angle boundaries (finding hkl directions and energies of grain boundaries)/ grain coarsening etc...
3)twinning and slip planes in crystalline materials
4) spinodal decomposition
5) martensitic/eutectoid transformations
6) nucleation and growth of precipitates and interfaces of alloys
Please let me know which of these topics you are familiar with as I would like to spend a short amount of time going over some of these concepts if you are available this weekend. I'm particularly unfamiliar with the hkl directions, slip/twin planes and directions in crystals as I didn't spend much time learning them in my undergrad studies.
I would prefer to meet in the a room in my building (zip code: 02111). I look forward to hearing from you. Please e-mail me ASAP.
Best Regards,
M. K.
