USMLE in Chicago, IL
Hi, Heather! I'm Alex, and I’m an English tutor from St. Petersburg, Russia. I like studying biology, neuroscience and more recently - medicine in my free time as a hobby! It has been a rather random affair, with an occasional online course or a textbook that I worked through now and then, or a certain specific topic that I got interested in and read up on pubmed. I have a plan now to make my knowledge more systemic, and I chose the USMLE structure for that. I have all the necessary material - lectures and Kaplan books at my disposal, what I don't have is accountability. I know that if i study on my own, it'll take me ages to get through all the modules. There are 5+ months of 4 hour everyday lectures that cover all three levels of the USMLE exam, and If I work alone I think It'd take me several years to push through it. I'm not a medical professional and I don't plan on becoming one, my goal is first to actually know the material just out of general curiosity, but also to get better at teaching English to medical professionals here in Russia and maybe get into public understanding of healthcare as a blogger on related topics here in Russia. That's why I had to come up with something! My idea is to have someone test me after each module - ask me questions, kind of hold a mock examination (e.g. the first one is Biochem and Medical Genetics, and it’d take me about two to three weeks to cover, but I’m already not entirely unfamiliar with most of the stuff in there). I know that everybody today uses Uworld and the like to prepare for the actual examination, and maybe I'll subscribe to one of the services later, but it still wouldn't help me keep the pace and motivation. Do you think you might be able to help me with such mock exams? Since I’m in Russia, obviously I’m looking for sessions online! If this project seems like something you could help me with, let me know!
