modeRN philosophy in Glendora, CA
Hi there James. You helped me out with a philosophy paper last semester regarding solving the hard problem in AI. I have been trying to get in touch with you via Wyzant, but each time I send you a message, it seems to disappear. So, I thought I would try to find you elsewhere...and here you are! Anyway, I am hoping we can just talk about the paper I am currently writing as, quite frankly, I am just stuck. It is a compare and contrast of the views on neutral monism of Spinoza and Bertrand Russell (-- Russell specifically from his viewpoint in Analysis of the Mind, NOT from his Analysis of Matter.) I have their views written up. What I can't seem to do is the comparison! I am required to use Robert Tully's piece on Russell's Neutral Monism for the contrast, and it just feels like apples and oranges. I do not see a relationship between Tully's work about Russell and the comparison with Spinoza. Anyway, it would be great if you are able to help me understand their viewpoints better and point me to some comparisons between them. Today (Friday) anytime after 3 would work for me, or Saturday early afternoon. I look forward to hearing from you. - L.
